What To Do With Your Masters Degree

By Catherine Zandueta Join the workforce. Once you’ve attained your masters degree you can definitely find a job. Having a master’s degree will open many doors for you in the professional world. Research the careers in your field. If you have a master in business administration, you can look for businesses you would like to work with. If you have a master’s in teaching, think about what school districts you would like to teach in. After you’ve done some research, it’s time to check the job boards. Get a newspaper every day and see what new jobs are posted. You may find a few good ads you’d like to answer. One of the best ways to job search is looking online. There are many features you can utilize to make your job search easier and less time-consuming. One way is by using keyword searches. You can type the name of the position you are looking for and a list of matches will appear. You can sort these matches by date so that you see the freshest job ads first. Another advantage to online job searching is narrowing your search to specific locations. You can see job opening in certain zip codes, cities or counties that you specify. This will allow you to control your commute. If you don’t have a reliable car then it may not be a good idea to apply for a job that has a two hour travel time. Once you’ve found the jobs ads you like, start sending out your resume. You should already have a resume ready prior to searching jobs. That way you can email or fax a resume at a moment’s notice. Make sure to read the job ad. If the employer specifies that they don’t want to receive your resume as an attachment, then copy and paste your resume in the body of the email. Now it’s interview time. Be prepared for your job interview. Bring another copy of your resume just in case. Always dress professionally. This means wearing a suit and tie for men and a skirt, slacks or dress for a woman. Be aware of the dress code for an interview. If you are interviewing at a Fortune 500 company, then wear conservative and professional clothing. If you are interviewing for a designer at a small clothing line, skip the suit and wear something that conveys your personal style. There are other paths you can follow after receiving your masters degree. If you loved the learning environment, you may want to build a career in academia. You can go into a doctorate program. This will allow you teach in a university environment or work in research. Do some research and find the path that’s right for Catherine Zandueta is a frequent contributor to CareersandEducation.com. How To Prevent Oily Skin Turning Into Acne

By Louise Forrest Because acne is closely associated with oily skin, people who have oily skin need to be aware of home skin care and utilize it to their advantage. There are cases however that home skin care simply does not remedy the situation. In these cases, it becomes necessary to visit a dermatologist and begin a treatment of medication to relieve the skin so that the healing process can begin. One of the medications that your dermatologist may prescribe is corticosteroid treatment. This medication relieves the symptoms of irritated skin, mainly inflammation (swelling), itching, and redness. Inflammation, in regards to skin conditions, is slight compared to inflammation due to acute injury. When prescribed for acne (which results, in part, from oily skin), this treatment is usually given as a topical treatment, meaning that it is applied to the skin, not taken internally. Corticosteroids prescribed for acne may be in a cream or lotion form. In very severe cases which are not helped by strong topical corticosteroids, systemic steroids may be prescribed. These are taken internally and the most popular is known as Prednisone. If this medication is prescribed for you, there are things that you should know about it in order to use it both safely and successfully. The federal government has the following guidelines that you should keep in mind when using corticosteroids: Tell your doctor is you have had and reactions to any form of steroids or if you have had adverse reactions to preservatives or dyes which may be used in the compound. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or may be pregnant. Animal studies have shown a correlation between use of this medication and birth defects when used on large areas of the body or for long periods of time. Talk to your doctor about breast feeding while using this medication and Make sure the breasts are free of medication before breast feeding. Use in children should be monitored by your pediatrician or dermatologist. Corticosteroids can affect growth and create other effects due to absorption through skin in children. Careful monitoring will safely allow your children to utilize the medication. When using on elderly patients, a doctor should monitor carefully because of the tendency of older adults to have thinned skin. Unmonitored use of corticosteroids may result in blood blisters or skin that tears. As always, make sure your doctor knows about all other medications being used to avoid possible drug interactions. Make sure that the prescribing doctor knows if you have any of the following medical conditions: Cataracts, Glaucoma, Diabetes, Opens wounds where the medication is to be applied, thinned skin which may bruise easily, or tuberculosis. It is important that you do not get corticosteroids in your eyes. Make sure that you always wash your hands after application and be very careful about rubbing your face (around the eye area) while treating acne with this medication. Sweating is a factor if you have to use the medication on the forehead. Dab sweat away with a cloth rather than wiping it away with your hands. Do not let sweat run into your eyes if the medication is used on your forehead. If your do happen to get the medication in your eyes, flush immediately with cool water (not cold). Flushing helps clear the medication from the eye and the coolness helps with irritation. In cases of acne, this medication is generally not used with bandaging. However, if it is, it is important that you apply the medicine exactly as directed because covering it aids in absorption through the skin and over-absorption has increased side effects. Do not use corticosteroids more often or longer than directed by your doctor. Over usage can result in increased side effects. The medication usually comes with detailed patient instructions aside from your doctors instructions. Be sure to read information provided with the medicine. If you miss a dose of this medication, you can apply it as soon as your remember, as long as it is not time for your next dose. If your next dose is to be applied soon, just skip the missed dose and resume proper dosing of this medication. Remember that the major advantage to using corticosteroids is that they reduce inflammation. You still need to continue your organic oily skin care regimen in order to correct the situation. Once the medication is no longer necessary, you will still need to take good care of your skin in a specific regimen for combating oily skin. Forgiving To Gain More Power And Freedom

By Steve M Anderson The tension grew all morning before it blew up into a fight with my partner. I was so angry at her. I stormed around through the rest of my day fuming and letting my frustration rob me of the joy I could have had throughout the day. When I finally calmed down enough and had the opportunity to talk with her about it, I unleashed the entire days worth of anger that had grown within me, driving a nice wedge between us. The poison had worked. We would soon die a slow, mindless death. Where could I find the antidote for this poison that was killing us? I sat alone in my office, with the slowly dawning realization that the only cure was forgiveness. Thankfully, I was able to ask her forgiveness for blasting away with my anger. She was understanding and also apologized for her part in the fight. The act of forgiveness didnt make everything instantly rosy again. Instead, what we gained was freedom; the freedom for us to begin in a new way. Thats the most wonderful part of forgiveness. It can free us from ourselves, it can free us from the power of the offender, and it can free us from the restraints of a poor choice. If I had chosen to hang on to the anger, it would have become larger and larger. Forgiveness gives us back the ability to control who we want to become. When we attach our feelings to that moment when we are wronged, we give those feelings an immortal life of their own that can even outlast the life of the offender. By recognizing the feelings as simply a reaction rooted in our history and psyche, we can more easily move towards the act of forgiveness. One aspect of forgiveness that is often overlooked is forgiveness of your self. When you forgive your self using the power of responsibility and humility, you gain the insight to see what your potential could be. Forgiveness is a gift of love to yourself that helps you to rise again to the fullness of your potential. By forgiving your self, you demonstrate to others the kind of love and respect you deserve. Forgiveness is not to be confused with tolerance or forgetting. John F. Kennedy once said Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names. If we tolerate or ignore an offense against us, we only serve to empower the offender to do more of the same. When we forgive, it is like turning on a bright light in a dark room, showing the true nature of the act and its effects. It is only in the presence of this light that we can see to do anything different. When the light of forgiveness shines on a wrong, it heals all who are ready for it. It is not in our control to determine how the other will react. We can, however, choose to allow the healing to come to ourselves. How To Say No And Make Sure Others Understand That You Mean It

By George Wood Saying no is difficult for us most of the time but making others understand that you mean it, is even more difficult. Sometimes people keep on insisting until you say yes. But if you resolutely say no the first time they wont have a chance to try again. In this article you will learn how to say no and mean it. Try to think of a valid reason for refusing an offer. If you kept coming up with excuses that could be overlooked easily, the other person will never let you go. Say no determinedly and offer another day to do the activity the other person is proposing. If he/she still insists, then say Maybe some other time and move on with a smile. You have got to learn to say no otherwise people will keep crowding you with their ideas and eat up most of your precious time. When somebody asks you to help them out with something, dont think that just because you have a reputation of being helpful and cooperative among your colleagues and friends, you have to say yes otherwise it will be ruined. Honestly think about the time you have and that what is being asked of you is really something you want to do. Dont fall into the trap of someone being innocent of not doing the thing himself. Also never offer an apology after rejecting an offer; after all its your life and only you know how you want to live it. Others are not supposed to decide what you should be doing at a particular time. Look the other person in the eye when you say no. This way they will be sure of what youre saying is what you mean rather than just inventing excuses like everyone else do. Try to keep yourself busy all the time, or at least show that youre a lot busier than they think you are. If somebody keeps on insisting then straight forwardly tell them your list of chores you have to do for that day. Dont let others get hold of your time and energy. Your family comes first and foremost when it comes to giving time to others. So tell people that you have family plans today or that you have to take your children out so you are leaving early today. Dont let guilt wash over you as you say no to a request. Your relationships will be much better and healthier when you know how to deal with difficult situations. Saying no to offers you cant accept or requests you dont have time to fulfill is just one of those situations. Firmly believe in what you want and let others know it too. You Can Make Your Own Shampoo

By Agostino Rossi In a previous article (see link below), I discussed some of the basic chemistry involved in the magic of beauty care products and pointed out that many of the basic ingredients are readily available and that you can make a lot of beauty products yourself. Shampoo is one of many beauty care products that you can make yourself if you have the time and inclination to save money and experiment until you find the perfect formula for your hair’s unique properties. Shampoo is a fancy formulation of detergent (such as ammonium lauryl sulfate) with added ingredients to improve the cleaning function (wetting and foaming enhancers such as tetrasodium EDTA and PEG-5 cocamide) and a long list of optional ingrendients to enhance the experience of using the product. The experience-enhancing ingredients include fragrances (essential oils), thickening and texturing ingredients (such as glycol distearate to provide perlescence), conditioners (such as dimethicone, cyclomethicone and cetyl alcohol) and preservatives. All of these types of ingredients can be purchased online for both hobby and commercial purposes. It is easy to get started making your own beauty care products by playing around with some of the simpler recipes, and then moving on to more complex and custom designed products. Expensive, complicated equipment is not required to make very high quality beauty care products at home. Before listing a few sources of ingredients and lots of formulas, let’s review a few tips for formulating a great beauty care product. First, you can control the viscosity, or thickness, of the product by adjusting the amount of salt (sodium chloride) in the mix, or by modifying the pH. You can measure pH very simply with litmus paper. If you need to lower the pH (make it more acidic), you can do that with a very small amount of a natural acid like citric acid, and many formulations include sodium citrate as a buffer. Remember to add the essential oil you have selected for fragrance to the mix before you add the water. This will help to make a smooth, creamy mix by allowing the fragrant oil to completely dissolve. So, where do you buy the ingredients to make your own shampoo, bubble bath and other beauty care products? One very good source is The Chemistry Store.com. This site has a very good selection of ingredients, and also lists some free formulas that are relatively easy to mix up. The Chemistry Store.com sells all the ingredients required to make the beauty care products listed in the formula section of their website. For a very good range of formulas for a variety of beauty care products other than shampoo, check out this website: http://thetoiletrieslibrary.info/. This website provides good information on how to make soaps, creams, bubble bath, lotion bars, bath oils, scrubs, and many other beauty care products. You can save a lot of money by making your own beauty care products. With a little patience and experimentation, you might even find a formula for shampoo, bubble bath soap, or facial cleanser that works better for you than any commercial beauty care product you can find on your supermarket shelf. Marketing Must Reflect Customer Needs

By Kevin P. Dervin Here is a small business marketing tip. When it comes to your marketing materials, what you like needs to take a back seat to what your clients and prospects need. I see small business owners all the time creating marketing messages and materials based on their preferences and what they like. It seems logical enough, but too often these same business owners are surprised when their materials and messages miss the mark. Consider that everyone is judging your message and your materials based on their criteria, not yours. Sometimes I describe it to my clients by saying think of your marketing as a wall. There are two sides to the wall. There is the side that you see and what is important to you. But, there is also the side the prospects or clients see and what is important to them. If your message and your materials are only designed to reflect your side of the wall, then don’t be surprised when they don’t work. It’s a common small business mistake. Design your marketing message and materials from the outside-in. Too often marketing materials are poorly put together because they have the wrong orientation and insufficient content. How many times have you come across someone else’s materials and been left wondering if what they offer is relevant for you? Short little three-word bullets that list out services or facts about how long you’ve been in business simply don’t communicate. What your prospects and clients need is to know that you understand their situation and what problems, issues and challenges they’re trying to solve. They need to know what outcomes and results you want to help them produce. What will things be like when their problems are solved? They need to understand your basic approach to help them solve their challenges. Great marketing materials inform and educate those who are in search of solutions. Yes, your marketing materials should reflect you and your business. But, don’t focus on that until you’ve addressed what your prospects and clients really need. Ortho Evra Lawsuit & Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch Lawyers for Side Effects

By Todd Going Women trust pharmaceutical companies to protect their health when they choose birth control medications. However, when the Ortho Evra Transdermal Birth Control patch was linked to potentially deadly blood clots, this trust was shattered for nearly one million women across the country. When Ortho Evra was introduced into the market in 2001, it was hailed as a revolution in birth control that allowed women to manage their fertility without having to rely on a once daily pill or painful injection of hormones. Ortho Evra quickly climbed in popularity, and by 2006 nearly four million women have used the patch at some point. The Ortho Evra patch is applied directly to the skin of the hips, buttocks, or thigh, where it delivers estrogen over an extended period of time. Estrogen helps prevent ovulation, but the Ortho Evra patch delivers 60% more estrogen than the conventional pill. Heat from the body causes the patch to release a specific amount of the drug, but if transdermal patches have been known to fail and deliver too much of a drug too quickly, often with devastating consequences. Unfortunately, the Ortho Evra patch suffered from such a defect, and caused a number of women to suffer blood clot-related trauma. Although birth control pills have been known to contribute to the formation of blood clots, studies show that Ortho Evra triples the rates of these potentially fatal medical emergencies. The first fatal incident that could be directly attributed to the patch was a student in New York who collapsed on a subway station in 2005. Tests revealed a blood clot in her leg migrated into her lung, and likely caused a pulmonary embolism. Subsequent autopsies determined that the fatal clot was caused by the Ortho Evra Patch. Ortho Evra is frequently marketed as an equally safe alternative to the daily birth control pill, but more convenient as it only needs to be applied once a week. By the time the FDA discovered the dangers of the Ortho Evra Transdermal Birth Control Patch it had allegedly destroyed the lives of 17 women between 17 and 30 that suffered fatal heart attacks, blood clots and strokes. Lawyers representing the women injured or killed by the patch have pressed a dozen lawsuits against Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary company of Johnson & Johnson. Ortho-McNeil has settled these cases for millions of dollars, and as of April 9, 2006, there are more that 100 more lawsuits still pending. Make-up Tips for Prom Night

By Angie Leighsmith If you took a quick survey of what is one of most important days in a teenagers life prom night would get a good number of responses right next to graduation and their 16th birthday. Grand plans are made. The right dress needs to be picked out. The perfect hairstyle needs to be fashioned. The right makeup and the right date also need to be decided on. Plans are made months in advance so that you have the most perfect prom memories to last the rest of your life. The weeks and days before the prom are so crazy; youll be dizzy before you know it. To make things easier, we’ve compiled the top beauty musts for prom. If you live by these, we guarantee you won’t look drab, boring or too much like your regular, everyday self for this year’s prom. Start off with a natural looking base with a matte effect if you have oily skin or try a glossy effect for dry skin. Pick a tone that complements your skin’s undertone and is a shade darker or lighter depending on the kind of coverage you want. Remember looking your age will make you look more beautiful. Use colors on your eyes that make them twinkle up and not make you look like you just woke up. Oceanic blues, champagne beige, sage, pink, violet, warm browns and coppers look nice as base shades but always remember subtly. Once you are through applying the shadows, use double doses of transparent waterproof mascara. Apply a modest amount of blush. Itll give you a flushed look that all the other girls will be trying to get. If you have a cool complexion then use a rosy colored blush and for warm complexions bronzed blushes look fabulous. Since you only have one senior prom your whole life, the day is special so of course you can use that lip color you’ve always wanted to try but were too timid to. Matte lip colors will balance the make-up on your face. Just be aware that glossy lip shades will reflect light and spoil photographs. Your hair style should compliment your dress. Generally tied up buns and braids look very dressy and excellent with prom queen tiaras but shiny long hair with curls are very graceful and sort of princess like. The key is choosing the right style for your face and dress. You can add a variety of different accessories to your hair and your outfit and dress up your entire ensemble. A brooch on a plain evening gown and a clutch bag will look infinitely high end. Whatever amount you invest in shoes and bags this time will be worth it all. Just stay with the classics so that they are always in vogue. Carry a shawl in case its gets a little chilly. A pretty shawl can do all the magic you are hoping for your look. If you watch the red carpet carefully you’ll find many a celebrities parading about with chic stoles and shawls. Do not forget about that pedicure and a manicure! A visit to the salon is must. On the big day, just relax and take it easy. Do not indulge in any shopping and running errands. Take a long luxurious bath and eat light meals through the day before the party. Hopefully your prom day will be as perfect as you imagined. Just dont lose your calm in all the excitement of getting ready and most importantly, be yourself. Others will admire you for just that. Lent was not Ordained by GOD

By Cornelius Babasanya-Craig Christians accept the Lenten season as if it is part of GODs plan for their salvation. The truth is that Lent is completely fallacious, and should be treated as such. Now, it is no more than a calendar event; only a few observe what it demands. The forty days of Lent represent the forty days which Jesus spent in the wilderness at the outset of His Ministry. He did not just stumble unto the fast. The Bible tells us: Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, If you are the Son of GOD, tell these stones to become bread. Matthew 4:1-3. The fast was His preparation to face temptation by Satan. This world in which we live is in the domain of Satan. Evildoer The main point we are making here is that man cannot save himself. Salvation is entirely at GODs mercy. He designed it. Also, it is at His prerogative that we are saved. It is not in dispute that it is a good thing to fast, or to be contrite for your sins. The point is that it contributes nothing towards your salvation. You may reinforce your prayers with fasts. That your prayers are answered contributes nothing towards the salvation of your soul. You may even pray and raise the dead. It is still the same thing. Simply, you have asked, and you have received. After all, respecting the Judgment Day, Jesus says: Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers. Matthew 7:21-23. You are not an evildoer when the Spirit directs your spirit to do the will of GOD. You are then a son of GOD, Romans 8:14 and you have the righteousness of GOD. On the other hand, your self-righteousness is like a filthy rag before Him. Isaiah 64:6. The Bible says: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of GOD—not of works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9. If salvation were of works, especially as demanded by Lent, then you would be entitled to expect salvation if you have fulfilled your part. You may even want to demand it as of right. Salvation is for the soul Jesus Christ says that His words are spirit. Paul, on his part, says that the law is spirit; therefore flesh and blood cannot obey it. This explains why activities in flesh and blood contribute nothing towards salvation. It is unfortunate that the intrinsic concept of salvation has eluded the majority of Christians. Salvation is a spiritual matter. It is the soul or spirit that needs it and can achieve it. You are saved when your spirit becomes suitable for a life with GOD. In the Garden of Eden, man died in the spiritual and continued existence in the physical nature of flesh and blood. It is the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Spiritual that guarantees mans return to spiritual life with GOD where eternal life is possible. This is why Jesus Christ was able to be categorical: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. Of course, GOD is Spirit. The only way for man to come to the Father is to unite with Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection. This is achieved through baptism when properly done. Otherwise, it is meaningless and achieves nothing. Maybe you can now see what happens when you are born of water as Jesus demands. What Lent is all about The purpose of Lent is to enlist empathy for the sufferings Jesus Christ went through during His last days on earth, ending in His Crucifixion. What for? This is analogous to the case of a patient who had to undergo surgery to get well. He now sets aside some days during graduation as an annual event, observing sleepless nights in empathy with the surgeon who, as a student, had to swot for many nights. The irony is that, while doing all that, he has not been faithful to his medication. His health is still constantly threatened. Really, the Lenten season has given the purpose of Easter a somersault. Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ. Angels, even, rejoiced at it. Easter marks the triumphant completion of the Mission of Jesus Christ. By all means, this should be approached not with fasting, and soberness, but resounding jubilation. Our salvation becomes a certainty. The end of a thing is more important than its beginning. Ecclesiastes 7:8. Christians make it appear as if the LORD GOD did not approve the sufferings. Isaiah prophesied: Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by GOD, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5. There you are. The LORD GOD condemned Lent about 700 B.C. The feeling of sorrow during Lent is misdirected. Rather, we should jubilate that the LORD GOD has worked out our salvation, and be thankful. Jesus says: As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Fathers command and remain in his love. John 15: 9-10. Jesus Christ shed his blood to establish the New Covenant. A good deal of Christians have no idea what the promises of GOD in this Covenant are. They are not committed in any way to ensure these promises are fulfilled for them. Unfortunately, salvation is impossible outside this Covenant. Indeed, Jesus Christ wants to save you, wants to love you. The ball is in your court. All you have to do is to make it possible for Him to love and save and save you. Cornelius is a Nigerian. He went to Britain for his university education. He obtained B.Sc. Hons. Physics, and M.Sc. Solid State Physics. He returned to Nigeria afterwards, and taught in universities and polytechnics before he retired. Currently, he is in US to publish and promote his book: The True Mission of Christ. The content is by direct Divine revelation, and therefore, cannot be faulted. Flying Blind: Without the 2 Secrets of the USP

By Roy MacNaughton Do you know what your unique selling proposition is? Can you spout it off to someone in less than three sentences? If you don’t know what it is, or can’t succinctly say it, you may need help. Soon. Formulating your unique selling proposition is the most important strategic marketing task you will ever do. What is the U.S.P? It’s defined as the way you do two key things up front: you differentiate yourself from all your competitors; you do it preemptively. Let’s take each of those concepts in turn. First, you have to be different from the others. People are attracted to and buy products or services from those who are “different” from the crowd. In today’s sea of mediocrity with its me-too, commoditized products, the one that stands head and shoulders among the rest, is the one that wins. Unfortunately standing out is not quite enough. That kid in the fast food joint with the purple hair and the ugly ring in his nose sticks out as being different, but that’s where it ends. You have to do this well, positively; preemptively. It’s not enough to be different, Anyone working hard and observing what everyone else is doing, can do that. At least until everyone else now has purple hair and rings in his nose. Then he’s no longer different, just another sheep: like all the rest. What’s required here is being the first one into this market space; or being the first one with a new way of ‘being or doing’ things. In this case, a way that does not easily allow others to copy-cat him with their stale rendition of what he has worked so hard to do. Naturally, this is where patents come in, but that’s another whole discussion. We’re talking here about how we offer or do something in a unique way; in a way that essentially “preempts” your competition. The key concepts are: “unique” and “preemptive.” Remember that old example of Avis up against Hertz. When Avis came out with the slogan: “we’re #2, but we try harder,” they did two key things. First, they stole what we call the “underdog position.” They were the first to do so in the rental car market. Then they also differentiated themselves by claiming superior customer service in that same market segment. Now they owned this valuable “underdog” position in the minds of the consumer. Everyone cheers for the underdog, right? Now Avis was it, up against huge monolithic #1, Hertz. Hey, let’s hear it for the little guy! The second very smart marketing thing they did was differentiate themselves by letting their prospective customers know in advance just how much harder they would work for and to keep his business. In those days, no one was pointing out the ‘Emperor’s new clothes.’ The big guy was weak on service. Avis had done their marketing research. They learned the weaknesses…and the strengths…of their bigger competitors. They knew to stay away from the things the bigger rival could easily do because of size, economies of scale, or available resources. When the lawsuit launched by Hertz against Avis finally came to court, Avis now was #2. Really. When Avis originally launched their campaign, they actually were #5…or worse. If you are going to succeed in your business, large or small, you can’t do without an incisive marketing strategy that incorporates the use of the Unique Selling Proposition. The concept was first developed in the late 1940s by Rosser Reeves, then working at Ted Bates Advertising in NYC. It has stood the test of time, and is even more relevant and important to success today, 60 years later. Why? Because now we have many more products, sizes, line extensions, colors, shapes, you name it. We have more companies competing for the same scarce dollars in the customers’ pocketbook. There is only room for those marketers who understand this hyper-competition. Those who are willing to sit down, take a bit of time, study the market and the host of competitors. Those who will produce products, services, or experiences that are different from the others. Additionally, there are those who want to be the first one in the marketplace to do so in such a unique way. They make it very difficult to copy them, without looking exactly like nothing but a cheap copycat version of the “real thing.” Copyright, Roy W.
